Now, I’m either going to bore the pants off you with this story or entice you into providing your own little anecdotes, but nonetheless I need to get this off my chest and the Buzz Agency Blog seems like as good a place as any.

The German Government recently released a statement adivising web users to find an alternative browser to Internet Explorer. This was due to a security hole found in the browser allowing an external source to access secure information. The loophole affects versions 6, 7 and 8 – although Microsoft say that risk is decreased with later versions of the browser. Even in 2001, Internet Explorer didn’t set the world on fire. Incomplete standards support rapidly made it look shoddy in the face of strong competition. In today’s market, surrounded by Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera and its own successor, Internet Explorer 7, version 6 of Microsoft’s browser looks positively ancient.
Many argue that IE6 hinders development, due to the number of hacks required to get sites working in it. Opera web evangelist Bruce Lawson goes further, squarely blaming IE6 for “hindering the development of the web”, due to its lack of support for advanced CSS and XHTML. …read more »

What’s next from the men at Mac?
The clever money, for what it is worth, is on some form of announcement about the iPod and/or iTunes on 7 or 8 September. One reason for betting on a music-related development is that music industry sources have said they have been given the heads-up on an Apple keynote.
This probably lays to rest, at least for a while, the hopes and dreams of some that Apple is set to unveil its so-called “iTablet” or “iPad”. …read more »

A man wakes up in the morning after sleeping on an advertised bed, in advertised pyjamas. He will bathe in an advertised tub, wash with advertised soap, shave with an advertised razor, have a breakfast of advertised juice, advertised cereal and advertised bread (toasted in an advertised toaster), put on advertised clothes and glance at his advertised watch.
He will ride to work in an advertised car, sit at an advertised desk and write with an advertised pen. Yet this man hesitates to advertise, saying advertising does not pay. Finally, when his unadvertised business goes under, he will advertise it FOR SALE.
